History of Avonlea Advisory

1994 – Gareth started with Simon Stuart & Company as an Accountant. Simon had commenced his business in 1991 after demerging from Orr Martin & Waters, which was a 10 partner Chartered Accounting firm.

2002 – Gareth becomes a partner and the firm name is changed to Stuart & Hunt. Simon and Gareth continue to work on treating all clients as having their own challenges and requirements, and not having a one size fits all approach…… the start of Stuart & Hunt’s Private Wealth offering. Simon and Gareth took special interest in creating and improving net worth, net worth movement and other group reporting. This reporting allowed clients to have a high-level view of their situation, rather than the alternative of wading through lots of pages of compliance driven and not very useful reports spat out by generic reporting software. Working with Private Banks and Private Banking clients continued to grow.

2011 – Simon Stuart retires with Gareth becoming the sole business Principal, keeping the name of Stuart & Hunt, with 5 team members.

2018 – In looking for more business support and to be able to work with a diverse range of Partners, Gareth merges Stuart & Hunt with Nexia Melbourne (a mid-tier accounting firm).

2020 – Unfortunately the merger did not work out as hoped, so Gareth demerges from Nexia Melbourne bringing his clients and original staff back to start Avonlea Advisory.

Avonlea Advisory still has clients that were with Orr, Martin & Waters in the 1970s and 1980s.
